Our Story¶
The Palladium story is one of good companies coming together to create something greater. Tim Snelling founded Palladium Insurance in 1996. Born and bred in Kanata, he started the business when the area was coming into its own with the excitement of the newly built Palladium Centre.
Tim liked the name “Palladium” partly out of local pride, but also because he was inspired by the definition of the word: “an object to which the safety of something depends”. He saw that as a perfect fit for insurance.
Meanwhile in Orléans, Sylvie Forget-Swim’s father owned what later became the Palladium Insurance east end office. Originally known as Bourgeois Côté Forget & Associates Insurance Brokers, it was founded in 1972.
Sylvie grew up helping out with the business, and even when she was enjoying her teaching career, she earned her broker’s licence so she could help out during the busy summer season. She joined the brokerage full time in 2005 when she decided to switch careers permanently to insurance, and bought out her father in 2011.
In 2012, the east end and west end companies decided to join forces so that they could serve the entire Ottawa area. Since then, they have expanded to four offices and serve Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
